Hi, has anyone had any issues with punctures? I have a nail in my tyre which has probably been there for over a month and the tyre has sealed quite good. However when i went to get it out, i've been told they're unrepairable and need a new tyre. Obviously i've asked for a second opinion, google says yes but tyre garages seem to say no. Has anyone had any experience with this? I personally find it hard to believe they can't be repaired.

I don't have any personal experience of this but it seems from a search online that they should be repairable like a normal tyre. The only issue may be if the puncture is outwith the repairable area of the tyre (roughly the central 75% of the tyre's width).

I know that you can't repair tyres that have had the sealant gel applied or are run flats but neither of these apply to your situation. I would ring a couple of tyre centres near you and see what they say.

ok thanks for that, that's what i saw when i asked Mr Google. I phoned a number of national tyre companies and they were all no new tyre. Phoned a local supplier and he said yes no problem, take it down tomorrow.
I will update when it's done.

Update on the tyre, repaired no issues. Hope no one has fallen for the can’t repair a puncture with these self seal tyres from some well known companies. Absolute nonsense that they can get away with giving false information to customers on the hopes that they’ll just buy a new one.

Excellent news. We've had a few tyres repaired in the past without any issues at all. and the cost saving is enormous.

Hi,

Glad you have had the tyre repaired as a lot of tyres places told me the once the tyre has gunk in it, there’s no way they would repair the tyre. I had to explain they are different and have a sticky band inside the tyre, so self seal. Rather annoyingly the tyre wasn’t repairable as the hole was right on the edge, so needed replacing.
