Ok, so a newbie question to start with.
Do the brake lights come on when you are recuperatiing?
Guess it's a good idea to warn driver behind that you are slowing, but not something that can be checked from the driver's seat!

Type approval legisalation (ECE R13-H) defines this:
At vehicle deceleration ≤ 0.7 m/s2 the brake lights shall not be activated
At vehicle decelerations > 0.7 m/s2 and ≤ 1.3 m/s2 the brake light may be activated
At vehicle deceleratoins >1.3 m/s2 the brake lights shall be activated
For reference, full ABS braking is ~10 m/s2, though most braking events are below 3 m/s2.
In general, when decelerating through regen the brake lights will be activated.

Like you I was concerned about the brake lights not being shown when you know as the driver that the vehicle is slowing particularly when the autonomous braking kicks in. The regen paddles have 3 levels of braking action. In my experience the first 2 stops serve as ‘engine’ braking with no lights and the 3rd stop being the max regen and the lights being activated. Now that the dark nights are returning you can see the glow of high level brake particular if the rear screen is misty or better still when it’s foggy.
