I was really concerned about this as the test car I drove had the boot shelf. Was wondering about retro fitting.
However when I picked up the car, the type two cable was stored under the boot floor. That's good enough for me, but thought would share for those worried the cable would take up boot space
Hi do you have a pic of what it looks like without the shelf and under the floor?
That’s really useful thanks, so really the shelf provides a flat load bay (I.e no lip) but other than that plenty of space to hide away charging cable.
I was a suprised that there was no boot shelf on my edition 1. £56k car and the shelf is an extra!!
Have looked on the Audi sites and buying as an accessory is not an option at present - not surprising given the supply issues …
I’m looking at a retro-fit for the raised floor, but knowing Audi, ordering it as a spare part will be a ridiculous price compared with the factory option cost. It will need the plastic side supports and looking at the picture, the trim rails as well, so that may not be a simple retro-fit Waiting for the parts manager to come back with a price and will post the numbers. I’m guessing £400 at least!
I read a post (I can’t find it now), I think on the US e-Tron forum where someone retrofitted this to their Q4, after buying the parts from their dealer.
Apparently they are identical to the ID4, and it’s relatively straightforward to do.
I’ll consider doing this too, when I finally get my Q4 - so it’ll be interesting to see what price your dealer quotes you.
Thanks for the information about the ID4 as VW parts can sometimes be cheaper than Audi. We have a local dealer who has a very good parts manager, so I’ll have a chat with him as well next week.
